DESCRIPTION: E.N. Welch Manufacturing Company, Forestville, Conn., "Ionic" later the "Alexis No. 1" wall clock, 30 day, time only, double spring driven movement in rosewood grained figure eight case with painted metal dial; nickel plated movement. Original Welch hands. c1875
CONDITION: the clock retains its excellent original finish with great rosewood graining. The dial has minor flaking around screw holes and an abrasion near right arbor. The lower reverse painted tablet is original and in excellent condition. Due to patent infringement on the E. Ingraham Ionic model, E.N. Welch changed this clock model name to the Alexis, and most (but not this example) were overpasted with new labels. For reference please see Tran Du Ly's "Welch Clocks", pg 116.
